Sacraments of Initiation

Baptism

The sacrament where it all begins. Baptism grafts one on to the life of Jesus Christ and his Body the Church. In Baptism, one becomes an adopted daughter or son of God, a member of the Church. Baptism preparation for new parents is given by Bob and Molly Orsini. Their contact number is 614-446-5622. After baptism preparation, call the parish office to schedule your child’s baptism. The pastor or deacon will preside at the baptism.

Confirmation

Seventh and Eighth grade students go through a two year preparation for the sacrament of confirmation. Confirmation is a sealing of one’s baptism. Ordinarily the Bishop comes to celebrate this sacrament with the students. Through the imposition of hands and anointing with the oil of Chrism, the Holy Spirit is called down upon the candidate to give him or her the gifts of the Holy Spirit, to strengthen the candidate to live the life of Christ.

Eucharist

The Eucharist is the center of the catholic life. We gather every weekend to celebrate the Lord’s Day by participating in the Liturgy of the Eucharist. We listen to God’s Word, give thanks to God for all of his blessings and partake of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. Children in the second grade are prepared to receive Christ in their first holy communion.

Children preparing for confirmation, first communion, and reconciliation, should contact our Director of Religious Education, Kelly Pertee, at the parish office.
