Sacraments of Healing
Also known as the sacrament of penance or confession. This sacrament is a healing encounter with Christ by confessing your sins to a priest, receiving some spiritual counsel from the priest as well as the prayer of absolution or forgiveness. The priest will give you a penance to do, usually a prayer or act of charity. Children in the second grade are prepared to celebrate this sacrament for the first time before receiving their first communion. Time is set aside for celebrating this sacrament every Saturday afternoon from 2:30 pm – 3:15 pm in church. One can also always make an appointment with the pastor to celebrate this sacrament.
Anointing of the Sick
This sacrament is the church’s prayer for those who health is impaired by serious illness or old age. It is a prayer of healing which includes a laying on of hands and an anointing with blessed oil. This sacrament also carries with it the forgiveness of sin. Anyone wishing this sacrament may contact the priest. A couple of times a year we do celebrate this sacrament communally at the Sunday Liturgy.
